Zombie Contemplating 'The Devil's Rejects 2'

Only thing I liked about The Devil's Rejects was the ending (I'll never listen to "Freebird" the same again). Everything else was ass. But what more would you expect from Rob Zombie?

Source: Bloody Disgusting

With Rob Zombie's Gruesome Twosome Tour all said and done, the rocker could be heading back to the director's chair any for any one of variety of films. On the horizon could be The Blob, the second remake about a alien creature that grows after consuming living organisms. There's his badass biker vs wrestler flick Tyrannosaurus Rex, which is being shopped around the town. Another potential project is a feature version of Werewolf Women of the S.S.. The original short was a faux trailer included on the full-length Grindhouse. Rodriguez is releasing his Machete later this year. Then Zombie has a fourth project, one that we didn't know about until today. Zombie asked his readers today on his official blogspot what movie they'd like to see next. All of the above are mentioned alongside The Devil's Rejects Part 2, a sequel to his House of 1,000 Corpses sequel that starred Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, Sheri Moon, among many others. So, which would you like to see?

'The Divide' Teaser Trailer

Moved up to my top 5 on most anticipated list. As you know, I can't get enough of apocalyptic movies. This one is directed by Xavier Gens who directed one of my favorite horror flicks, the disturbing french horror movie 'Frontier(s)'.

Plot:
The films include a post-apocalyptic thriller set mostly in an apartment building fallout shelter, a serial-killer thriller about a woman afflicted with "face blindness" and a coming-of-age story about a young girl seeking out her birth mother.

German's character is at the center of the film, set in New York, which is virtually destroyed in a mysterious explosion in the first act. Eight survivors take refuge in the fallout shelter of an apartment building, where they are menaced first by mysterious men in HazMat suits and eventually by each other.

Eli Roth's 'The Last Exorcism' Trailer

WOW! I can't wait. Eli is hit and miss. Looks like HIT!

"When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine "exorcism" on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy.

Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus’ own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.

THE LAST EXORCISM is written by Huck Botko & Andrew Gurland and directed by Daniel Stamm. Strike Entertainment and STUDIOCANAL present an Arcade Pictures production. "

"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" to be Filmed in 3D

[sarcasm] I am SHOCKED! [/end sarcasm]

Source: Walt Disney Pictures

A lot of the 2011 summer tentpole releases have already been announced as being either filmed in 3D or converted afterwards, but so far, May 2011 has been somewhat devoid of 3D release announcements... until now!

Walt Disney Pictures has announced that the fourth installment of Jerry Bruckheimer's popular action franchise Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, directed by Rob Marshall, will be filmed in Disney Digital 3D. Bruckheimer's only previous 3D movie before that was last year's G-Force.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is still slated for release on May 20, 2011.

Eddie Murphy Writing Third 'Nutty Professor'

Can't stay away from kids movies, eh Eddie? He may be the biggest disappointment in Hollywood history.

Source: Access Hollywood

Entertainment show Access Hollywood caught up with actor Eddie Murphy at the premiere of his new movie Shrek Forever After and learned that the actor has been developing ideas for a potential third "The Nutty Professor" movie, confirming a story from a few years back.

There's no word whether Universal may have any interest in doing another movie, but according to Murphy, it will depend on whether they find his ideas funny. With The Nutty Professor grossing $273 million worldwide in 1996, and its sequel Nutty Professor II: The Klumps grossing $161 million four years later, a third movie certainly has potential similar to Universal's "Meet the Parents" comedy franchise.

Whether a third movie gets a greenlight may also depend on whether Universal sees Murphy as a bankable comedy star, being that his last two comedies, Meet Dave and Imagine That, bombed, and Murphy's new DreamWorks movie A Thousand Words, his third movie with Norbit director Brian Robbins, has yet to be given a U.S. release date despite having been finished since last October. That movie may just be caught up in the transition of distribution companies from Paramount to Disney, though countries like Argentina, Sweden, Germany and The Netherlands have already booked the movie in early 2011, over a year after its completion.

James Wan Talks About "Insidious"

Sounds like the same old same to me. Ah well.

Source: Shocktillyoudrop.com

ShockTillYouDrop.com talked exclusively to director James Wan (Saw) on the Los Angeles set of his new horror thriller with writer Leigh Whannell, Insidious, starring Rose Byrne, Patrick Wilson, Ty Simpkins, Barbara Hershey and Whannell. Here's how Wan describes the film:

It starts off as one movie and becomes something else. The general concept is a young family moves into a house. Their son falls into a coma and once that happens, bad things begin to happen. Rose Byrne, our mother, begins to experience small things that keep building and getting scarier. You know how in most haunted house movies, they stay in the house? Well, they move to a another house in this film. And the haunting continues...

Megan Fox Not Returning for 'Transformers 3'

WOW! Good for Michael Bay. Even though she is hot as hell, I didn't appreciate her biting the hand that feeds her interview. She acts like she's a true thespian or something. Lol! If her looks ever go, she will be on Celebrity Rehab in no time.

Source: Variety

Earlier this month, Megan Fox was spotted doing previz shots for Transformers 3, but now Variety is reporting that she will not appear as Mikaela in the third installment after all.

Paramount Pictures reportedly decided not to pick up her option as the studio and director Michael Bay want to take the story line in another direction and plan to cast another actress as the love interest for Sam Witwicky, played by Shia LaBeouf. The trade says the decision "was unrelated to a September interview with a British magazine in which Fox compared Bay with Adolf Hitler."

The third installment is scheduled to hit theaters on July 1, 2011.

Battle Royale 3-D?!?!

The biggest WTF news I've heard in a while. This ranks somewhere between the Bewitched movie and Chlamydia. If you don't know, Battle Royale is one of my favorite movies of all time. If you haven't seen it....rent it, no... BUY IT!!

Source: Bloody Disgusting

Seriously, who can I punch? Looking around my room I'm trying to figure out where exactly I can place a punching bag - because right now I need something to pound, and my pillow just isn't going to do. Right out of this year's despicable and disheartening Cannes it was revealed that Japanese studio Toei is preparing a 3D conversion of Kinji Fukasaku's cult action thriller Battle Royale, which is one of the widest selling movies ever from Japan. Fukasaku's son, Kenta Fukasaku, is supervising the 2D to 3D conversion in Tokyo through this production company Fukasaku-Gumi. Kinji Fukasaku passed away in 2003 and is sure to be rolling over and over again in his grave. In case you want to see it: the 3D version of the original will be ready for market screenings in October and released in Japan on November 20. Like the original, the 3D version will have an R-15 rating in Japan. MUST. PUNCH. WALL.

Favreau's 'Cowboys & Aliens' Plot Revealed

The comic was good and Favreau has some clout, so this shouldn't fail.

Source: Dreamworks Pictures

DreamWorks Pictures has revealed the official synopsis for "Iron Man" films director Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens, starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell and Noah Ringer. Opening July 29, 2011, the film was written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof:

1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

'Avatar' Sequel to be Announced Soon

I personally think Cameron should move on to other things and not pigeonhole himself, but he's not.

Source: Associated Press

Talking about 3D at a technology forum in Seoul, South Korea, James Cameron said that he estimates it will take about three years to make the Avatar sequel. That's 18 months less than it took the first.

He said that the release date for the follow-up will be announced in a few months.

Cameron previously revealed that the sequel would focus on Pandora's ocean. "I'm going to be focusing on the ocean on Pandora, which will be equally rich and diverse and crazy and imaginative, but it just won't be a rain forest. I'm not saying we won't see what we've already seen; we'll see more of that as well," he said.

The first film has earned a massive $2.718 billion worldwide and has sold more than 19.7 million DVD and Blu-ray discs in three weeks.

LaBeouf Says 'Transformers 3' Will be Better

Not sure why everyone is so down on the 2nd Transformers. Yeah, it had it's flaws, but still a great movie none the less. Anyways...

Source: Associated Press

Shia LeBeouf told The Associated Press that Transformers 3 "brings the heart back to the franchise." He starts working on the third installment on Tuesday.

The new script restores a human element that got lost in the second movie, LaBeouf said. "When I saw the second movie, I wasn't impressed with what we did," LaBeouf said at the Cannes Film Festival. "There were some really wild stunts in it, but the heart was gone."

In related news, actress/comedienne Kym Whitley talked more about her role to BV on Movies.

"I usually don't like mentioning that I am working on 'Transformers' because I was also in 'Transformers 2' and I got cut out," she said. "So I try not to get excited about working on the project until I see the final edit, because you never know what's going to happen."

She added that "The real excitement about working on the film just comes from working with [director] Michael Bay. He writes these parts for me and just lets me roll with it. You can't beat that. It's kind of like working with Larry David, when I did 'Curb Your Enthusiasm.' Michael Bay works fast though. He laughs a lot, too. You rarely get someone to just tell you to go ahead and do your thing. That's the beauty of working with him."

Transformers 3 is coming to theaters on July 1, 2011.

Bootleg 'Super 8" Trailer

JJ Abrams is a genius. Period. I'm so hooked it's not even funny.

Unofficial Plot:

Super 8 revolves around a group of kids in the late '70s who play around with super 8 cameras and just happen to catch something they shouldn't have on film. And that something is, by all accounts, supernatural. And probably deadly.

Columbia Pictures Announces 'Men in Black III' in 3D

It's obviously been a Will Smith week. I'm actually surprised at his choices latley. I'm more for Bad Boys 3 than MIB 3, but eh, we'll see.

Source: Columbia Pictures

Columbia Pictures announced today that Men in Black III will be released in 3D on May 25, 2012. Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are returning to produce and Barry Sonnenfeld, who directed the first two installments of the blockbuster franchise, will direct the film from a screenplay written by Etan Cohen, based on the comic book by Lowell Cunningham. Steven Spielberg is set to executive produce.

Deals are set for Will Smith, Sonnenfeld and the producing team to return to the blockbuster franchise with the intent to begin production by this fall and the studio is in advanced negotiations with Tommy Lee Jones to reprise his role as Agent Kay. Josh Brolin is also in talks to star as a young Agent Kay.

Commenting on the announcement, Jeff Blake, Chairman of Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing and Distribution said, "Sony's summer of 2012 will get off to a red hot start with an incredible new 3D adventure for the Men in Black. We couldn't be more excited that the original filmmaking team responsible for the first two worldwide hits is reuniting for this third installment. We love where the story is taking Agents Jay and Kay and know this new chapter will deliver a fresh fun twist for fans of the franchise while also introducing the Men in Black to a whole new generation of moviegoers."

The first two "Men in Black" films, which were released in 1997 and 2002, went on to become two of the most successful films in Columbia Pictures history, taking in more than $1 billion combined worldwide. The first film in the franchise won an Academy Award® for Best Makeup and was nominated for two other Oscars®.

Movie News Bruckheimer Confirms Development on 'Bad Boys 3'

Let's just hope it doesn't turn into Bad Boys 3-D.

Source: Edward Douglas

In the past few months, there's been quite a bit of chatter about Will Smith returning to some of his most famous franchises as they receive the threequel treatment. In fact, just this week it was confirmed that Smith would start shooting Men in Black III with Tommy Lee Jones this fall for a summer 2012 release date.

There's also been talk in the past year about Sony reuniting Smith with Martin Lawrence and Michael Bay for Bad Boys 3 with a screenwriter having been hired last summer, though it seemed somewhat dubious even last month when Lawrence confirmed to MTV that the project was "real."

At the UK junket for Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time, ComingSoon.net asked the Big Kahuna, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, if there was a possibility we'd see him, Michael Bay and Smith working together for the first time since Bad Boys 2 back in 2003, presumably once Bay and Smith finish their current threequels, Transformers 3 and Men in Black III, respectively.

The producer was more prudent with his choice of words on the project than Lawrence, saying, "It's a wish and a hope and a dream. We've been working on a screenplay, which is excellent. It's an idea Will gave us, so hopefully, it will come to fruition, we would love it to."

Being that the first Bad Boys was the big breakthrough movie for Bay, Smith and Lawrence 15 years ago--seems like longer, doesn't it?--it certainly would be interesting to see them do a third movie maybe with some of the modern edge they've seen since been exploring.

In the meantime, Bruckheimer's own summer slate is full with Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time out on May 28 and The Sorcerer's Apprentice out on July 16. You'll be able to read a lot more on both those movies right here on ComignSoon.net.

Wow...I didn't even see this one coming.

Plot:
Published in 1952, "The Killer Inside Me" concerns a deputy sheriff in a West Texas town whose kind Everyman demeanor masks his true dark self. He is slowly revealed as a psychotic killer.

'Splice' Trailer

Looks like 'Species' to me. This movie hasn't been getting the greatest of reviews but I'm posting the trailer anyway.

Plot:
Clive and Elsa are superstars of the genetic engineering world. They specialize in splicing together DNA from different animals to create fantastical new hybrids. The charismatic couple wants to use human DNA in a new hybrid – something that could yield astronomical medical benefits. The pharmaceutical company that funds their research, however, is more interested in exploiting their earlier triumphs for easier, short-term profit. Clive and Elsa secretly conduct their own experiment. The result is Dren: an amazing creature who exhibits an array of unexpected developments, both physical and intellectual. Dren exceeds their wildest dreams... and, ultimately, their most terrifying nightmare.

'Jonah Hex' Trailer

Looks SICK!!

Plot:
Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone... and anything. Having survived death, Jonah's violent history is steeped in myth and legend, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the "other side." His only human connection is with Leila (Megan Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own. But Jonah's past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can't refuse: in exchange for his freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich). But Turnbull, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah's oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead. Based on the legendary graphic novel, "Jonah Hex" is an epic adventure thriller about one man's personal quest for redemption against the vast canvas of the battle between good and evil.

'Buried' Trailer

I'm claustrophobic anyways. So the trailer alone makes my palms sweat.

Plot:
Paul Conroy is not ready to die. But when he wakes up 6 feet underground with no idea of who put him there or why, life for the truck driver and family man instantly becomes a hellish struggle for survival. Buried with only a cell phone and a lighter, his contact with the outside world and ability to piece together clues that could help him discover his location are maddeningly limited. Poor reception, a rapidly draining battery, and a dwindling oxygen supply become his worst enemies in a tightly confined race against time - fighting panic, despair and delirium, Paul has only 90 minutes to be rescued before his worst nightmare comes true.

Joe Dante's 'The Hole 3D' Trailer

As you know, I'm really starting to hate the 3D gimmick.

Plot:
"The Hole in 3D" tells of a family who move into a new home and discover a hole in the basement that plays on their darkest fears.

Godzilla’s New Design?

This is a franchise that needs to be left alone.

Source: Slashfilm.com

Twitch has discovered a couple photos on Flick of a design model for Godzilla. Could this be the creature’s new look for the new American Remake? The author WoGzilla left the following accompanying comment with one of the images:

“great detail :) I was told by a good friend in the movie biz. that this was one of the design’s they were considering for the new 3D Godzila….! if you have new info on this movie, i would like to post it . thanks :)”

What do you think? Could this be real? How about the design of Godzilla?

I personally love it. I hope it is more than just fan art, but chances are it isn’t real. The big reason is that it has been online all day, and Warner Bros/Legendary Pictures could have had them removed in minutes. Either way, I think it’s cool enough to feature on the site and speculate what a new darker American remake of Godzilla might look like.

Here’s the full press release from Legendary which was released earlier this year:

Burbank, CA – March 29, 2010 – Legendary Pictures announced today that they will develop and produce a new film based on Toho Company’s famed GODZILLA character. Through the terms of the agreement, Legendary Pictures has acquired the rights to produce a movie inspired by Toho’s Godzilla, a franchise the Japanese company created and has nurtured for over fifty years.

Toho’s GODZILLA franchise boasts one of the most widely recognized film creatures worldwide, resulting in a series of books, television programs, video games and more than 25 films worldwide. Legendary intends to approach the film and its characters in the most authentic manner possible. The company will, in the near future, announce a filmmaker to helm the film for an intended 2012 release. The film will fall under the company’s co-production and co-financing deal with Warner Bros. Toho will distribute the film in Japan.

“Godzilla is one of the world’s most powerful pop culture icons, and we at Legendary are thrilled to be able to create a modern epic based on this long-loved Toho franchise,” said Thomas Tull, Chairman and CEO of Legendary. “Our plans are to produce the Godzilla that we, as fans, would want to see. We intend to do justice to those essential elements that have allowed this character to remain as pop-culturally relevant for as long as it has.”

“Godzilla is a signature Japanese character which we have nurtured over the years. It is a great honor to reach an agreement with Legendary Pictures, the parent to many a blockbuster film, and we are delighted in rebooting the character together to realize its much anticipated return by fans from all over the world,” comments Hideyuki Takai, President of Toho Co., Ltd. “We are anxious to find out where Godzilla’s new stomping will take us.”

“Godzilla is emblematic of the kind of branded, event films for which Warner Bros. and our partners at Legendary are best known. We have enjoyed a great deal of success together to date and this newest opportunity represents yet another chance for us to collaborate on a property that is very clearly in their wheelhouse,” said Jeff Robinov, President, Warner Bros. Pictures Group.

In addition to Legendary, producers on the new film will be Dan Lin, Roy Lee and Brian Rogers. Yoshimitsu Banno, Kenji Okuhira and Doug Davison will Executive Produce.

Spielberg & JJ Abrams Collaborate on `Super 8'

DAMN! I was hoping for Cloverfield 2. This just proves JJ is a marketing genius. It will be no time before the internet starts going nuts about this.

Source: AP

LOS ANGELES – Steven Spielberg and J.J. Abrams are collaborating on a hush-hush project — and "Iron Man 2" audiences are getting the first look at it.

A Paramount spokeswoman says a teaser trailer for "Super 8" will debut before midnight Friday screenings of "Iron Man 2."

Abrams, whose films include "Star Trek," wrote the screenplay for "Super 8" and will direct. Spielberg is producing.

Like "Cloverfield," the 2008 hit produced by Abrams, details about "Super 8" are being kept secret. Paramount spokeswoman Katie Martin Kelley would only say that "Super 8" is not a sequel to "Cloverfield" and that the movie is inspired by films Abrams "loved and admired as a teenager."

"Super 8" is due in theaters in summer 2011.
